Is Mason a Fluke?
Posted on 25 Aug 2010 by Jason Wagensveld.
The question that every Blue Jacket fan finds themselves asking before the 2010-11 season is: Was Steve Mason's rookie season just a fluke? The answer is...not a chance. The man is a competitor, a fighter, a team-player, and a winner. I would argue that it was not his rookie season that was a fluke but rather his sophomore year that was a fluke. Steve Mason is the real deal. Mason is n...

I’m Not Thinking Arby’s
Posted on 28 Jul 2010 by Rob Mixer.
The streak is intact. Blue Jackets general manager Scott Howson and Marc Levine, agent for restricted free agent defenseman Anton Stralman, agreed to terms this morning on a one-year, $1.95 million contract. By coming to agreement prior to the early-morning hearing in Toronto, the two sides avoided an arbitration hearing. Had they been unable to finalize a last-minute deal, Stralman would...

The Blue Jackets are rumoured to be trading the rights to the disgruntled winger Nikita Filatov for Kevin Bieksa. Nikita Filatov played the majority of the season for CSKA Moscow in the KHL. Blue Jackets Hire Dan Hinote as an Assistant Coach
Posted on 1 Jul 2010 by Jason Wagensveld.
Dan Hinote has been hired on as one of the assistant coaches for the Blue Jackets. I think it is a great addition as Hinote was a hardworking player and I expect no different from him as coach. He is not far removed from the game as he just finished his playing career last season in Sweden. More to come...

Moreau and The Free Agent Frenzy
Posted on 1 Jul 2010 by Jason Wagensveld.
The Ethan Moreau pick up isn't exactly earth shattering news. The Blue Jackets have picked up the veteran winger off waivers. He is due to make 1.75 million in his final year of his contract. Moreau has never scored more than 20 goals in his career and has always been a limited threat in the offensive zone. He will probably find playing time with the third line and will play a more defe...

Blue Jackets Claim Ethan Moreau
Posted on 30 Jun 2010 by Tyler Karshner.
The Blue Jackets have Claimed LW Ethan Moreau from the Oliers. Last year Moreau had 9 goal and 9 assist and 62 pims. Moreau is also in the last year of his contract. Look for him to play on the 3rd line. Also don't expect anything from the Jackets much at all in free agency. Most of the changes will come via trade.

#4 Ryan Johansen
Posted on 25 Jun 2010 by Jason Wagensveld.
I thought the Blue Jackets would have waited to the second round to draft a center. However, they surprised a lot of people by choosing Ryan Johansen a little higher then expected. The Blue Jacket fans should be excited about Ryan Johansen and his potential to be a top center in the league. Ryan Johansen is a 6 foot 2 and 185 pounds center. He was drafted 150th overall in the WHL dr...

I had hoped that the Florida Panthers would have passed on Eric Gudbranson but he was too good to pass up on. Fowler or Gormley?

Draft Preview
Posted on 24 Jun 2010 by Jason Wagensveld.
There is always an interesting debate going into draft day: talent vs. need. Do you draft the best player available or do you draft the position you need? In the Blue Jackets case they may be able to do both. The Blue Jackets are in need of some defensive help in the very near future. They are fortunate because there are three top blueliners expected to go with in the top seven picks....
