The Great Dane to Remain in Ottawa
Posted on 30 Jul 2010 by Mika Oehling.
It's been a saggy period for hockey-starved fans who are looking forward to a new season and there hasn't been a lot to report on the Free Agent front. It was for this reason that I was so heartened to read that Peter Regin will remain in Ottawa after narrowly avoiding arbitration talks for a two year contract. The loose ends are starting to be tied up as the end of the summer looms and while i...

Quick Sens update
Posted on 26 Jul 2010 by Kevin Lee.
I wanted to pass along a few things that I am hearing from very good sources on a rather slow summer when it comes to Ottawa Senators news. Sens GM Bryan Murray is offering Peter Regin a two year deal at $900,000 per season but Regin's camp is asking for 2.5 million per season. Yes, crazy money for a player who has one year of solid NHL service under his belt. I can tell you, this is one...

Somebody’s Gotta Go!!!
Posted on 7 Jul 2010 by Marvin Miller.
If you look closely at the cap space remaining, by the time Foligno and Regin are signed, there won't be enough cap space left to eat at MacDonald's... so somebody has gotta go. And I don't mean somebody with Shannon's kind of cap hit either. It will be really interesting to watch training camp and see who that turns out to be. There just isn't room for all of these forwards. Earlier this...

Why Lose UFAs for Nothing???
Posted on 5 Jul 2010 by Marvin Miller.
What I don't understand is why do the Sens keep losing their UFAs for nothing? If they want to resign someone, Murray can just start the process ahead of time, and give a firm deadline for the negotiation... and if agents play hardball, at least they can pretty well figure out what it will take to resign the player. Kovalchuk was worth two good players, a prospect and a first-round draft pi...

A few predictions
Posted on 2 Jul 2010 by Mika Oehling.
If Bryan Murray is serious that this is the team that we will move ahead with as of now, July 2nd, a day after the free agent frenzy and the 143rd birthday of the great nation of Canada with the Queen barely cracking a smile, then here are a few predictions for how this season will play out: Forwards Taking a Step Backwards If it's true that Spezza's sticking around, get used to seeing hi...

Defend! Defend! Defend some more!
Posted on 1 Jul 2010 by Mika Oehling.
Picking up Sergei Gonchar is an NHL style coup for any team- a coup that can only lose its luster when you consider the defensive situation of the team that picks him up. What should have been some of the greatest news for the Ottawa Senators fanbase ever heard has fallen somewhat flat given the team's current situation. Ottawa's greatest critics in the past few years has fallen squarely on the...

No Shared Vision
Posted on 1 Jul 2010 by Mika Oehling.
If the Ottawa Senators have a vision as to where the team is going, they're keeping it to themselves. For Ottawa Senators fans, there's the distinct impression that we're either near-sighted when it comes to the future or that maybe there's something that isn't being shared with us, because for the most part, we're a frustrated group. Still spitting mad about Ottawa forsaking its prime numbe...

Looking ahead to the draft, what Ottawa hopes to do
Posted on 24 May 2010 by Kevin Lee.
First off, to all the detrackers out there when it comes to my Sens writing and being objective, not subjective like so many writers/bloggers, it was nice to see Don Brennan of the Ottawa Sun write an article yesterday concerning Anton Volchenkov. Brennan confirmed my story from more than two days earlier that Volchenkov had put his house up for sale. Of course, the pro-Sens fans with ...

Volchenkov definitely leaving Ottawa after house goes up for sale
Posted on 20 May 2010 by Kevin Lee.
First off, we will be doing a breakdown of each RFA and UFA on the Ottawa Senators roster starting tomorrow. So please come back and check the latest rumours and info we continue to get out there before most if not all the mainstream media in Ottawa! Secondly, it looks as though Anton Volchenkov has definitely played his last game in a Ottawa Senators uniform as his house went up for sale ...
